We are at our seventh day of the cruise. The last full day on the ship. I’m not crying, you are! Just kidding, my trip won’t be over quite yet.

It was funny because the night before felt like the last night. All the farewell-like performances confused me for a second.

Breakfast

I’d been waking up early every day this week so I decided to try and catch the last sunrise at sea. The sun was hiding behind clouds but I waited until it came out before heading inside. The air was so warm and muggy. My camera lens even fogged up.

When I came back, my friends and I went to breakfast in the Windjammer as usual. I regret not going the main dining room for breakfast at least once. I think we ultimately didn’t go because we didn’t want to wait a long time like we did the one time we went for lunch.

After getting our food, we sat outside in a booth. The humidity was so high that the salt on the table clumped together. Also, I was slipping and sliding on the deck floor.

Morning Activities

When we finished breakfast, my friends went in the pool. There weren’t a lot of people there in the morning. However, it did rain for a few minutes while they were out there. They told me the pool was a salt water pool which none of us expected.

While they were in the pool, I went down to Schooner’s Bar to do a word search challenge. I wasn’t the first three to finish but I finished it eventually. Right after the word search they had morning trivia so I decided to stay and play that as well. I missed most of the questions but found out Marilyn Monroe’s natural hair color was red (I thought it was brunette).

I planned on going back to the room first and then meeting them at the pool but they were already in the room when I got there, taking showers.

We all rested in the room for a few hours. There wasn’t much we wanted to do that day. Everything had already been done throughout the week.

Slowed Down Afternoon

We had lunch in the Windjammer where they offered a farewell cake and had a little dance party for the kitchen staff similar to last night’s main dining room performance.

Afterwards, we took the time to get our bags together and organized so it would be easier for disembarkation tomorrow. We made sure to do this before our next activity which was Harry Potter trivia. I knew I wasn’t going to do well with this trivia but I came with my friends for moral support.

Only one person got all the questions right out of the whole room of people playing. I was impressed but also surprised that no one else in the room got all of the questions. During this, I finally got the drink of the day which was a Bahama Mama.

Last Minute Shopping

We then walked over to look at our photos taken by the Royal Caribbean photographers throughout the trip. Originally, we were going to get two photos because as a gold crown and anchor society member I could buy one and get one half off but we decided to get 10 and use the photo package that was $150. This discounted nearly $80 if we bought each individual photo which is $23 each.

Tip: Had we known we were going to end up getting 10 photos we could’ve gotten the photo package in the pre-cruise sale, saving an additional $40. Oh well. You live and you learn.

The jewelry shops were right next to the photos so my friend took it as an opportunity to buy something for her dad and grandma. She ended up getting a watch that was originally $595 but because of the discount they were offering it was only $99. While I’m not a watch person and wouldn’t spend that much on a watch, I’d say $496 off is a pretty good deal. She got one for her grandma too, using my wrist for measurements.

After the shopping we decided to walk outside to see how windy it was and look at the waves. One of our fellow passengers told us to go to the back of the boat to watch it sail away for a cool shot.

Last Dinner

We had some downtime before the Windjammer opened for dinner so we stayed in the room, not intrigued by the activities happening in between.

We had 8PM reservations for the main dining room but we didn’t want to eat that late so we went to the Windjammer where they had Indian cuisine for the night. I thought it was a strong way to end. Indian food is delicious.

I did want to try the lamb shank and apple blossom from the main dining but suppose I’ll have to try it on the next cruise.

To end the night we finished up our packing and left an extra tip for our room attendant, Kresdee, who was great dealing with our messy cabin and putting together my birthday decoration.

We had already filled out the form to decide when we wanted to exit the ship. We also checked off that we’d take our own luggage off.

Tip: In the opposite of embarkation day, if you take your bag off the ship yourself, you can breeze through customs, don’t have to spend time looking for your bag, and you can get your car/Uber or to your next destination much quicker.

My friends bought alcohol in Progreso that was confiscated when we got back on the ship but they’d gotten it back that night to pack.

How would you spend your last full day on the ship? Would you relax by the pool? Go with the flow? Or do as many activities as you can before the trip is over?

Well, this cruise trip has one more day in New Orleans! Check back next week for the end of the New Orleans/Mexico cruise trip series.
