Hey there fellow overthinkers! I want to use this post to talk more about the type of travel I do. If you’d like to know a little more about why I started this blog, check out the About Me page.
How I Like to Travel
I’m someone who tries to be frugal but I won’t sacrifice my comfort for something cheaper. For instance, you probably won’t see me posting about staying in a hostel. It’s just not my vibe and I like my privacy. You also won’t see me staying in a luxury hotel that costs $1000 a night (unless it’s sponsored, haha). I will show how I budgeted and saved to stay at the slightly nicer hotels even if I don’t stay at cheaper ones.
Flights are a different story. I’ve grown up using a certain airline and I’m pretty loyal to it. This doesn’t mean I won’t tell you how to find cheaper or discounted flights. I can also ask other friends what they think about an airline they’ve used.
Solo Traveling vs. Traveling in a Group
Speaking of friends, more often than not, I am traveling with friends or family. I rarely solo travel. I am hoping to do more of solo traveling in the future. So far I have only solo traveled to Chicago 1) because I’m already familiar with how to navigate the city and 2) I’d meet up with friends at some point during a Chicago trip. I’ve traveled to San Diego by myself but again, I was visiting a friend so she showed me around town.
As an introverted person who still likes companionship, solo travel makes me nervous but it is something I want to get more comfortable with especially if I want to do something that no one else around does. It’s nice creating memories with the people I love but I think I’m letting it control which vacations I take.
I almost didn’t go on my New Orleans and Mexico cruise because my sisters couldn’t go based on their schedules. My friends were able to go with me but if they weren’t able to, I’m not sure I would have gone.
Actually, my favorite form of travel is cruising. It’ll even be the first major trip to for the blog. I also love amusement parks, learning the history of a place, seeing beautiful sites, and eating mouth-watering food (especially if it’s something that’s native to the destination).
What I Want to Learn from Traveling
There are so many places I want to go and things I want to do. Planning to make it happen is almost as exciting for me as finally experience it. I started this blog to share planning tips, budgeting tips, and travels. While I enjoy planning, I’m reminded every time I go on trip thought that no matter how much I plan, things will change in one way or another.
That’s why I try to learn to adapt and go with the flow. It’s not all that fun going on a vacation if you’re going to be stressed the whole time trying to fit an itinerary into a tight schedule.
I’m hoping to ease that stress for others and achieve some goals of my own like: taking a solo trip, doing a road trip, finding more local spots to visit (because after all, that’s still travel).
I hope you enjoy taking a look at my experiences and learning from them with me.
