This feels like the day we’ve all been waiting for: Magic Kingdom! This is the park that everyone thinks of when they think of Disney World. It is by far the most popular park out of the four.

I, on the other hand, don’t feel one way or the other.

Magic Kingdom is the most popular but it’s also the one that is mainly servicing smaller children. I like thrill rides and the world “thrill” doesn’t come to mind when I think Magic Kingdom. That being said, I was still excited to go and complete my experience in all parks.

Magical Morning

All of us woke up extremely early to get to the bus for Magic Kingdom. We bought our fast passes while we were getting ready and choose one of them for Space Mountain. There was another one we could’ve used but decided to pick another ride later.

We snacked on breakfast bars as we made our way down and waited for the bus to arrive. We remembered how it was our first day when went to Animal Kingdom with the Magic Kingdom line being so long.

When we got to Magic Kingdom the line to get in was extremely long, it was really a crowd more than a line.  Some of us tried to go to the bathroom before they opened the park for early entry but we lost track of our friends in the process.

Elise really wanted to ride the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train coaster since each time she’d gone before the ride would be broken down or the line would be too long so we told her to go ahead with Skye while we were in the bathroom.

Once we were in the park, I went with Sky and Cali to Starbucks. They let us all in the gates but they technical hadn’t opened up the sections of the park yet so everyone remained in the center of the park waiting in line to get into the different sections.

Elise and Skye were at the front of the line for Fantasyland and Tomorrowland while we were still near the castle. Eventually, we were able to get up to them once they allowed everyone in.

One of my friends was…less than happy about waking up so early but we ended up benefiting from that because we rode the Dwarfs ride, Space Mountain, and the Haunted Mansion ride all before 9:30am.

Thrills in the Morning

Cali, Sky, and I power walked to catch up to Elise and Skye who waited at the entrance of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train before joining the line. This was the shortest line we stood in for the entire trip. We waited probably 10 minutes.

It was a nice beginner coaster with a surprise here and there. It actually reminded me a lot of the Dahlonega Mine Train in Six Flags Over Georgia (and not just because their names are similar).

Elise was so happy she finally got to ride this coaster that already made the day a 10/10 to start. We’d gotten a fast pass for Space Mountain but because we were already near the ride and the line was so short we went ahead and rode it.

This is another indoor coaster that’s in the dark, made to feel like you’re flying among the stars. This is great thrill ride if you’re looking for one.

Because of rode Space Mountain before our scheduled fast pass time, we gave up on our time slot and tried to find another ride to use it for. If the TRON: Lightcycle was up and running during our trip, we definitely would’ve tried that.

We were originally going to try to use it for the Haunted Mansion but some of us remembered there is a murder mystery of sorts that you can solve while waiting in line for the ride so we wanted to try our hand at it.

Midday Madness

As we made our over to Haunted Mansion, we stopped to take a picture in front of the castle. I mean, you’ve got to right?

The line for the ride ended our short waiting times. We had to wait about an hour but we used the time to try and solve the mystery (I can’t remember if we did or not, to be honest) and played around with the interactive pieces within the queue.

As a kid (and honestly as an adult) I wasn’t a fan of haunted houses, let alone haunted mansions. I don’t like being scared. But this ride is tolerable especially for the kiddos. Our ride got stuck for a few minutes in the end but Cali and I kept ourselves entertained.

Pirates of the Caribbean

We spent the next part of the day walking around, taking bathroom breaks, getting snacks. We still tried to find a ride to use our fast pass for but as the day went on and time slots were slimming, nothing seemed worth it.  Our wondering around led us to get in line for Pirates of the Caribbean. Here is when we started playing our 20 questions game again but this time with celebrities.

As someone who still hasn’t seen any Pirates of the Caribbean movies, this ride doesn’t do much for me, but I’m sure fans of the franchise enjoy it. It was just way to rest my feet in air conditioning.

After the ride, we figured out how else to use our passes. We chose Peter Pan’s Flight for one of them which would be after our dinner reservation. Three of them used their second pass on Mad Tea Party.

Winnie the Pooh and Tea Time

Once we got that settled, we went towards The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh to kill some time before our dinner reservations.  There were a lot of stimulants in the line to keep kids occupied while they waited in line. The ride itself was a very adorable. It was like a trip down memory lane, remembering the Winnie the Pooh show I used to watch as a baby.

Soon after, the time slot for the Mad Tea Party came up. Skye, Elise, and Cali went to ride it while Sky and I sat out and waited for them. Last time I rode in the tea cups I felt extremely nauseous so I didn’t want to feel that way before our $75 dinner.

Afterwards, we stopped by some gift shops to look around since we still had 20 minutes before it was time for our reservation. There were so many different Mickey Ears at one of the shops.

Dinner (or Late Lunch) Time

Our reservation for Be Our Guest was here before we knew it. We walked up to the Beast’s castle after checking-in and having my name called up. The outside doesn’t look like much, but the real beauty is inside.

There are three dining areas: The Ballroom, the Library, and the West Wing (Beast’s room). We were seated in the ballroom which looked just as grand as it does in the animated movie. We secretly wanted to eat in the West Wing but it might be best that we didn’t since the lighting wasn’t great in there.

The Beast walked out multiple times while we had dinner. He made sure to great all of his guests. The décor was nice but I came for the food.

Eating like Belle

I made sure to order things I hadn’t had before (or things I wouldn’t order normally). Half the things I ordered, it seems they no longer serve so I’m glad I got to try them.

For the appetizer I had lobster bisque. It was okay but it was lacking in flavor. One of my friends let me try their French onion Soup which was had way more flavor so I regret not ordering it. I actually ended up making it for the first time when I got back home a couple of weeks later.

For my entrée I ate the scallops. I’d never had them before and thought this would be the one time I’d get a chance to order (not realizing I’d eat them on a cruise nearly a year later). They were good I just wish I had one or two more. It was served with risotto which had a…interesting flavor. I haven’t come across a risotto I’ve liked to this day so I guess it’s just not my thing.

For dessert, they had a trio: Lemon-Raspberry Macaron, Chocolate Truffle, and the infamous Grey Stuff!

If I’m being honest, I was mostly excited to try Grey Stuff, it’s delicious after all!  It was like a chocolate mousse with white edible pearls in it.

I think for the experience it’s worth the money but for food alone, I could’ve saved my money for something else.

After we paid and tipped our waiter, we were able to go into the other dinner rooms to take pictures before leaving.

Finishing the Day

After dinner, we still had time before Peter’s Flight so we got in line for Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid. I thought I would follow the story of the movie but the ride was a little different (at least from what I remember).

While on our way to Peter’s Flight, Elise and I broke off from the group. Sky was eyeing the Tiana green themed Mickey ears at the shop we visited before dinner but decided not to get them because she already had a crown. Thinking back to how Skye and Cali got me something for my house, I wanted to do the same for Sky’s birthday. Elise had also saw her eyeing the ears so she and I decided to split the cost (they were $50) to gift to her as a birthday present. She ended up wearing her new Mickey ears for the rest of the day!

Elise and I caught back up with the group to ride Peter Pan’s Flight. This ride took me by surprise. I thought it was going to be like the Winnie the Pooh ride but for some reason it just felt more exciting. At one point we were “suspended” in the air like we were flying. I was quite impressed.

Shopping and Fireworks

The rest of the day we relaxed, looking around for souvenirs. I ended up shipping some mugs to my mom’s house from the store because my mom wanted them and I knew they wouldn’t fit in my suitcase.

It was the last day so everyone took their time trying to find memorable souvenirs. Once shopping was over, we tried finding a good spot for the firework show. There were people already gathering in the center an hour or so before show even started so that’s what we did.

We were surrounded by families and some of the kids started playing 20 questions with my friends.

The firework show started and while I loved a mix of pyrotechnics, projections, and a real life Tinkerbell flying over Cinderella’s castle, it just wasn’t hitting the way Harmonious in EPCOT did.  I truly think Harmonious ruined all other firework shows for me because it was just so good!

The End of the Night

When we got back to the resort, I tried to find a mug they had on sale earlier in the week. It was 50^th anniversary one and I thought it was so cute but didn’t want to buy it right away (trying to save my money). They told me if I didn’t see it they probably no longer had it. Sad, I bought one of their home décor mugs and pouted upstairs.

My friends and I packed and said our goodbyes that night because Cali, Skye, and Elise all had early flights the next day. I convinced Sky to get Mears Connect transportation since it would be cheaper than her $60 ride share so we completed that before heading to bed.

While I was pretty satisfied with our day in Magic Kingdom, I can’t help but feel like there was so much more we could’ve done. How would you spend your time in Magic Kingdom? Do you think you’d visit Be Our Guest?
